The Tape Environmental Analysis is a detailed assessment of your current backup environment culminating in a comprehensive report which includes recommendations to maximize existing resources, avoid unnecessary expenditures and ensure compliance requirements are met by reducing potential for data loss
Tape Environment Analysis
Tape Environment Analysis is a detailed assessment of your current backup environment. Highly experienced storage engineers provide a deep analysis of your tape media and drive performance—even checking the health of each individual tape. Insight into potential cost savings, maximization of performance and identifying defective or degrading tape drives and media is provided. Recommendations are extensive and include: potential cost reductions, drive repair, media removal, library service, backup application configuration, and storage network configuration. All information is delivered in a detailed report to help maximize existing backup resources, avoid unnecessary expenditures on equipment, save time, meet compliance requirements and reduce the risk of lost data.
Archive Verification Service
Archive Verification Service provides a policy‐based approach to verify system capability to read archived tape media over the course of its effective life. The service validates the readability of archived media. The validation process automatically loads media, verifies data can be read and allows for a verification schedule on user‐defined policies. The technology is deployed out‐of‐band to the library controller and uses dedicated or shared drive(s) for archive verification. Reporting and alerting is automated and will convey the success or failure of tape media readability.
Tape Verification Service & Analysis
Tape Verification Service analyzes media to verify each tape can be read, ensuring data is recoverable. With this service, storage administrators can be confident that they are meeting compliance requirements. This service can be completed on site without use of your equipment or personnel. A detailed report will show the state of each piece of tape media, highlighting the relative danger a piece of media may pose to your data recovery plans. Within the detailed analysis, tape media will be grouped with defective media being highlighted. An optional Media Recovery Service is available to provide deep data recovery for tapes that cannot be read. Recoverable data will be written to new media and labeled with the same information as the old unreadable tape. Tape Rewrite Service is another optional service that transfers data from high‐risk tapes or tapes that are not performing adequately to new media labeled the same as the risky tapes.
