American Photo gives the FinePix S5 Pro the Editors Choice Award for Professionl DSLRs
"Dynamic range is the weak suit of most D-SLRs, making overexposure a constant worry for digital photographers. Fuji solved that problem brilliantly in its FinePix S3 Pro, using a novel image sensor that has two light-gathering photodiodes (instead of the usual one) at each of its six million pixel locations. As with that groundbreaking model, the new Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro uses big pixels to record low and normal brightness, and small ones to capture highlight data that otherwise would be lost. It can give you beautiful results from RAW files you've overexposed by more than three f-stops -- impossible with a normal digital camera."

Rangefinder: Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro is reviewed By David Williams, September Issue 2007
"I am frankly astounded at the success rate in dealing with a variety of commonly difficult lighting situations." Highlighting the S5 Pro's High-Speed Flash Sync and On-Board Commander, Williams says, "This is just the icing on the cake for me." Very impressed with the S5 Pro's performance, Williams concludes, "Did [Fujifilm] build a camera just for me? Nope wrong color. I wanted dark blue or retro brushed silver, but everything else is just great."
Dannee Saylor of Steve's Digicams wrote a great review of Fujifilm's S5 Pro
"With more than 70 years of photographic experience, Fujifilm recognizes the importance of resolution, sensitivity and dynamic range as factors that determine overall image quality." She highlights the S5 Pro's Face Detection Technology, High ISO capabilities, Super CCD, RAW/JPEG support, dynamic range and more. Saylor concludes by saying, "If you're a portrait photographer I bet you'll love the increased dynamic range and film simulation of the S5 Pro provided by the fourth generation Super CCD. Likewise Fuji's Face Detection Technology is a real time saver in the studio."
